Chapter 145: The Commotion Outside Fang Yuan’s Cave
Eager to inspect the gifts the Supreme Elders had given him, Jiang Chen stopped surveying his surroundings and hurried to the most luxurious cultivation room in the Autumn Water Palace. Once inside, he settled onto a meditation cushion made from the rare Tranquil Heart Blue Jade.
"Let’s see what we’ve got here," Jiang Chen mused, his lips curling into a smile of anticipation as he started to carefully examine the four storage artifacts one by one. Inside, he discovered an array of treasures, each securely stored within its own artifact.
The first storage ring overflowed with various pills, ranging from those designed for the Heavenly Origin realm to ones for the Inquiring Journey realm.
The second storage bracelet contained a collection of cultivation method jade slips, primarily aimed at practitioners in the Inquiring Journey realm.
In contrast, the third storage bracelet was packed with a wide variety of spiritual plants tailored for the Inquiring Journey realm, accompanied by a significant number of spirit jades.
The fourth storage ring held a top-grade defensive artifact suited for the Heavenly Origin realm, resembling a shield.@@@@
Clearly, the Supreme Elders had thoughtfully coordinated their welcoming gifts to provide a well-rounded set of resources.
"Not bad!" Jiang Chen remarked to himself, delighted. "Being the Holy Lord’s personal disciple has brought me great benefits once again." With these pills and spiritual plants at his disposal, he could significantly cut down on his expenditure of Villain Value points.
Then taking out the top-grade Heavenly Origin-level shield to examine it, he noted coolly, "While its defensive power surpasses my current Carefree Heavenly Extreme Robe, it isn’t a growth-type artifact."
The mention of his Carefree Heavenly Extreme Robe brought to mind his other growth-type artifact, the Shadowblade Sword. During his time in the Everflowing Truth Northern Domain, Jiang Chen had attempted to gather the necessary materials for their upgrades but had not been successful.
’Looking at it now,’ he contemplated, ’since I’m in the Everflowing Truth Central Domain, which is far more prosperous than the Northern Domain, I should take this chance to try my luck. I might actually find those materials!’ With that thought, he began to organize the newly acquired treasures and carefully transferred them into the Heavenly Demon Hidden Heart Ring.
Afterward, Jiang Chen used his Eternal Vows Binding Ring to contact his wives. They checked in on each other and chatted briefly, each sharing updates from their respective locations.
Once done, he took out his transmission jade token and sent new instructions to Rong Liangcai.
Jiang Chen’s ploy was straightforward: since Fang Yuan had successfully regained his ability to cultivate, this called for a celebration.
He informed Rong Liangcai of his intention to visit Fang Yuan the next day. He also suggested that Rong Liangcai should find time to meet Fang Yuan to mend fences, so to speak.
Additionally, Rong Liangcai was to encourage those holding grievances against Fang Yuan to reconcile, and prompt those wishing to befriend him to pay a visit.
Of course, Jiang Chen trusted that Rong Liangcai would understand his intentions, but he still reminded him to exercise caution and prevent people from arriving all at once. Instead, he advised that they should visit one at a time.
With his subtle plan against Fang Yuan now in motion, a wicked smile spread across Jiang Chen’s lips as he carefully stored his transmission jade token away.
"Enough with the chatter, let’s show our respects quickly!"
Reminded of their manners, the crowd, previously buzzing with lively discussions, moved collectively toward Jiang Chen, expressing their respect with earnest fist and palm salutes.
"Everyone, please!" Jiang Chen called out, his smile cordial. He then asked, "Is this where Junior Brother Fang Yuan resides? I’ve come to visit him."
"Yes, Lord Jiang Chen," someone responded enthusiastically. "This is indeed Fang Yuan’s abode."
"We’ve just arrived ourselves, and that boy Fang Yuan has yet to emerge. Haha! He might still be deep in his cultivation," an elder commented, clearly a member of the Fang Clan.
"Haha! Certainly, now that Fang Yuan has regained his cultivation abilities, he’s likely engrossed in his practice, neglecting both sleep and meals," another added with a laugh.
The crowd, clearly made up of many people from or affiliated with the Fang Clan, was quick to offer their comments. Each individual was eager to engage in dialogue with Jiang Chen and establish a rapport.
...
Meanwhile, inside his cave mansion, Fang Yuan observed the commotion outside, his eyebrows furrowing slightly.
"So, Jiang Chen has arrived! I wonder what his intentions are?" Fang Yuan muttered to himself, surprised by Jiang Chen’s unexpectedly early visit.
Truth be told, Fang Yuan had known for some time that numerous visitors had arrived at his cave mansion. Yet, driven by his intense desire to cultivate, he had no intention of entertaining any guests, even those from his clan. Thus, he continued to maintain the appearance of being deeply engaged in secluded cultivation.
But with Jiang Chen’s arrival, the situation changed.
To most, Jiang Chen was known merely as the Holy Lord’s direct disciple, noted for his extraordinary talent. However, Fang Yuan knew more than just that. Thanks to insights from Nangong Wan and Shangguan Ning, he was aware that Jiang Chen also carried the mighty bloodline of a True Dragon!
Somehow, being in this current predicament, Nangong Wan’s words of caution began to resonate more with Fang Yuan. Although his initial impression of Jiang Chen was unfavorable and he was hesitant to form any bond with him, he couldn’t deny that there might be some merit in her approach.
Furthermore, now that Jiang Chen had taken the initiative to visit, he seemed to extend a gesture of goodwill, at least outwardly. Given this, Fang Yuan realized it would be discourteous to keep Jiang Chen waiting outside any longer.
With a sigh and still feeling a bit hesitant, Fang Yuan pondered aloud, "Should I go out and meet him?" His indecision was understandable, given the slight unease he felt in his heart.
Nangong Wan, not wanting Fang Yuan to antagonize Jiang Chen and potentially create another enemy, was quick to respond, "Let’s go greet him. It won’t take too much time."
"Since Jiang Chen has made the effort to come, we should receive him," Shangguan Ning added. "This way, we can observe him up close and try to learn more about his character."
Encouraged by the two women’s suggestions, Fang Yuan took a deep breath and reasoned, "I suppose it wouldn’t hurt to see what he wants." Ultimately, he decided to put aside his reservations.
