The triumphant smiles on the faces of the Long and Ye family members froze the instant they saw Ye Xiu snap Long Guang’s neck, and they all shot to their feet as if on springs.

They couldn’t believe it. They had already pledged allegiance to Kristina, yet Ye Xiu still dared to kill a member of the Long Family—and right in front of her, no less!

Kristina was also stunned that Ye Xiu would dare to kill Long Guang, humiliating her so publicly. "Ye Xiu, you dare defy my command!" she raged.

"So what?" Ye Xiu roared.

That roar terrified Kristina down to her soul. Although she hadn’t known Ye Xiu for long, she could tell he was an intelligent man who was in control of his emotions. But the Ye Xiu before her now was so enraged he had lost all reason. Kristina had no doubt that he truly intended to kill her.

"What are you all standing around for? Get to work," Ye Xiu snarled, releasing Kristina’s neck and turning to the members of the Ye and Long families. "Given your stupidity, I want to see Guanlou Mountain tunneled through by tomorrow morning. Also, give each of the laborers you beat 1,000,000."

The laborers were overjoyed. That beating was worth it!

The members of the Ye and Long families scampered off to get to work, their hearts filled with frustration and despair. We thought siding with Kristina would let us turn things around, but instead, we were knocked right back to square one.

Kristina ran over and quietly asked Ye Tianming, "Why is Ye Xiu acting so abnormally today? He seems to be in a very bad mood."

"Today is the anniversary of his mother’s and maternal grandparents’ death," Ye Tianming said with a dark expression.

"You should have said so earlier!" Kristina furiously kicked Ye Tianming, sending him flying. She fumed, her hands on her hips.
